Since 1938, ChildFund International aims to promote the welfare of children in poverty all over the world. To do so, the organization uses seven different approaches. The first of these was child sponsorship, which asks a donor to provide for and support one child. Other initiatives involve working directly with families in poverty, allowing local communities to run local programs, and developing an emergency fund to support children who have fallen victim to disasters and crises such as drought or war.
To create the most impact in specific areas, ChildFund partners with local organizations. In India alone, the group works with 65 partners. One of these partners is PRIDE, which stands for Planning Rural-Urban Integrated Development through Education. PRIDE works with people in marginalized communities to improve their health and education. The group's work has helped lower mortality rates in villages and provided more opportunities for local children.
