The program offers free recycling services for used inkjet cartridges, laser toners, and cellphones with the intention of donating the proceeds to various charities and nonprofit organizations. Unused new items may also be donated, although program participants must arrange for special pickup. Benefiting charities include those in the areas of poverty, health care, environment, and education at both the domestic and international levels. Launched more than seven years ago, Recycle4Charities is open to citizens, private corporations, and local, state, and federal governments.
Donations must be made in bulk and follow certain minimum requirements. Participants may also donate 20- to 40-pound boxes of mixed items, and large pallet pickup is available for donations of more than 100 laser toners. For free shipping services, participants must create an account with Recycle4Charity and request shipping labels. To learn more about the program, please visit www.recycle4charity.com.
